I want to play guitar through the computer so I can use a VST host with plugins, and connect the computer to an amp head.
the computer has line in, line out (headphones), microphone. I would connect the line out of the computer to the input jack of the amp head.
but the line levels are different.
consumer line level (CD player, tape deck, etc) puts out -10 dBV. headphones too?
professional line level takes +4 dBU (about 1 volt). is that the input jack of an amp head?
does impedance figure into this anywhere? a computer is not a guitar, and that's what I would be plugging in.
