To me modern guitar sounds like a seven or 8 string going through a marshal with the mids all the way up and everything else down. All mid range honk like its going through an old shity speaker at a drive through movie theater.
I come from the era of scooped mids and thats what I like. I like tight bass, scooped mids and high treble. I even like using a sonic maximizer on guitar
